“A curious mix of drawing room comedy, sex farce and social mores that often struggles with itself. But with Noel Coward’s command of the language and Cole Porter’s music what’s not to like? Certainly the eye candy of Jessica Biel and Colin Firth (underused) are wonderful to watch. A tribute for the eyes and ears.”

“Reinvigorates the term ‘must see film.’ Just the right balance between raising outrage among viewers and providing them with the means by which they can affect meaningful, ethical and hopeful change. We’ve got to take back control of our food supply!”

"Exactly what you want from science fiction - an out-of-this-world story, suspenseful plot, and an  ultimate pay-off message that comments on our times - corporate greed and coruption. An it did all this with only minimal characters and special effects, no chase scenes, explosions or creepy creatures. Bravo! Duncan Jones was also a terrific guest, smart and clearly enthusiastic about his project. Bring him back."

“There is so much to think about and to react to.  So much symbolism.  I love Atom Egoyen’s films!  He always has a complex layering of emotions, motivations and outcomes.  He - as John Sayles - unfolds a story in such a masterful way.  What is truth/fiction?  Something is true for someone from a certain point of view.  So many things can be created with digital technology.  Now things can be created so what is real can come into question.  Adoration, that emotion taken to the extreme can lead to acts that have unexpected consequences. “

“What I absolutely, positively hated about this film is: it was not at least two hours longer!  I would have had no problem if there have been an intermission or having part II be screened at the next session: that is how good it was.  Even though this was a documentary, it played like a drama, even a mystery or suspense film.  I was on the edge of my seat in anticipation of who was going to be selected for the roles.  I hope the DVD includes all the stuff we didn’t get to see today.  The beauty of a production like this is it illustrates the genius and talent of a number of arts, dance, music, song and film.  This was a treat, a true gift.  Thank you for selecting and sharing it with us.”

“A sweet way to start the weekend!  Great to see those guys again.”

“Charming and very enjoyable.”

“Authentic and sincere, with a feel-good story and a happy ending, and a terrific cast sells this mediocre movie. Escapist movies in tough economic times are making a comeback.” But it’s hard to see this as much of a hit in theaters off Cape Cod.”

“What a campy hoot!  I loved it, but I’m a sci-fi fan.  It was a wonderful take on INVASION FROM MARS, THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, THE BLOB. And THE TWIGHTLIGHT ZONE!  I loved the art production, costumes and dialogue.  The acting was great.  Some of the dialogue was so obvious, but enjoyable.”

“Interesting film and main character.  John Malkovich was his usual wonderful, eccentric self and he portrayed Buck Howard as only he could as a complex, difficult and oh so interesting character.  Colin Hanks was wonderful too.”

“A lovely old fashioned film with a story, lovely music and characters to cheer for.  They don’t make movies like this anymore!  Although I wasn’t alive in 1936, it was a great trip down nostalgia lane, the knowledge of which I acquired as a ‘young-un’ seated with fascination in front of the television watching the better offerings of ‘MILLION DOLLAR MOVIE.’  The young lady was wonderful as sweet as her name in the movie.  All the male actors were wonderful as well!”

“Certainly an important and major issue, never easy, but it was good to bring to wider audience of filmgoers.   The actors were always actors, not real people and the script was always a script, not real words.   Sarah Jessica Parker is showing her ability to be a serious actress.”
