“Eye Opening!”
“Really good and well done. I felt the director was suggesting think outside the box.”
“The movie was very deep. Makes you have more of a political thought. It was mind boggling. This movie brings to life what a lot of Americans choose to ignore.”
“Needed more depth from the standpoint of the protesters. Missed an opportunity to bring more world issues to light.”
“Viewer is confused. Was the focus about the WTO or the right to protest? The protestor’s grievances were adequately presented but the story line became blurred between political and personal issues. Glad that WTO is again being brought to our consciousness.”
“Efforts to harmonize beleaguered police and protestors were unsuccessful. Film was disjointed and unfocused.”
“Much too violent. The filmmakers could have made their point without the extreme violence.”
“A well intentioned film that told a most important story about why sometimes it’s necessary to put your comfort on the line, to risk getting arrested, and to protest and exercise your right to dissent and disagree with organizations like the WTO.”
“This movie made me feel insecure and faceless. I would personally like to thank the director.”
“Interesting subject that is probably not widely understood. The film was choppy and repetitious, but effective in making a point. The little side stories did not enhance the effectiveness of the subject matter.”
“Excellent film that could have been tighter.”
“Thanks to the filmmakers. We need another protest in NYC. Its time to speak out together again and stand up for issues we believe in. Also I loved that the actor’s names in the credits were in alphabetical order.”
“A powerful and tragic story about a very serious issue. But for me the problem was that I had insufficient background to understand and appreciate what was present. I found the discussion after the movie to be most helpful in filling me in.”
“Thank-you. The film leaves me with the question: ‘what can I do?’ Makes me want to take action, but it’s not just the corporations. We as citizens are distracted by so many issues to keep us from meaningful protest.”
“This was great except for the dumb love story.”
“Good film, too much violence for me, but it gave an excellent sense of the honor of that event.”
“Much food for thought about Americans right to protect and our 1st Amendment rights.”
“Despite ‘named’ leads I doubt this will be a commercial success. The love story, loss of child, incite of press were too contrived and too obvious. Too important messages to be masked with the obvious Hollywood!”
“Very informative as far as the actual demonstrations. The story was a little soggy and too perfect. Who would believe that Charlize Theron would be married to Woody Harrelson?”
“Powerful portrayal of a few days in modern history. I don’t think the Wisdom of Solomon could have changed what happened. I wonder how the NYPD would have responded! We really haven’t come very far from the fire hoses and dogs used on civil rights protestors in the 50’s and 60’s.”
“Quite enlightening. Sad that not much has changed since ‘99. Excellent film.”
“Very informative and well done.”
“Many important issues clouded by contrived plot lines.”
“Both powerfully dramatized and predictable plot.”
“A powerful history lesson, painfully portrayed, poignant, persuasive, prejudiced, but perfect to provide critical thinking to the people!”
“Brings into light a view of an organization not many know about.”
“Brazen propaganda!”
“Important, powerful and timely film.”
“A very tough movie to watch. But very powerful and something I believe everyone should see.”
“The film brought to light the topic of a global economy and major issues in a way that makes the viewer interested emotionally. I was most able to relate to the journalist/reporter who becomes immersed and emotionally interested in the story she was covering and made the choice to standup for her message.”
“A very poorly made mock documentary, and I am sympathetic to the cause. How about a few too many extreme close-ups and the problem with hand held cameras. Too many close-ups that mean nothing. Why is the pregnant lady not capable of avoiding the demonstrations in the first place and duck into a building?”
“Painful to watch, but very effective. Outstanding direction. Hats off to the producers.”
“Powerful film!”
“I loved this film. It made me learn about the WTO and it showed me visually how these protests are. This should be seen in history classes.”
“Although the film is biased I think it is important to bring this subject to the public. It needs to be discussed so change can happen.”
“I was particularly pleased with the reality of the demonstrators in that the anarchists were the true catalysts of the aggression by police. At least they were the real culprits, not the powerful demonstrators.”
“I thought this film was mind-blowing. The lack of truth in the media was completely evident in this film. This was a documentary and a top film all in one.”
“Superb film.”
“As a peaceful protester since the 60’s, it is frightening to me to see our 1st amendment rights erode. This film evoked Kent State and the ’68 DNC. The central point here was the WTO controlling third world countries’ economy, not allowing them affordable medicine and healthy food. I was very moved by the point of view of the protesters and remember the news broadcasts being biased against the protesters!”
“Excellent film. A statement to which we need to pay attention to.”
“The movie was trying to say too much and didn’t succeed in saying much of anything.”
“Fake, fake, fake!”
“Worthwhile telling of the story and its many players on personal as well as overview terms. However, I found the visuals so violent that I was repelled.”
“Not a serious presentation of the issues.”
“I hope this film helps, but the multi-national corporations have so much power. It’s definitely time for a change.”
