“I'm not a science fiction fan… however, this film held my attention throughout. As our wonderful guest said, if I met myself, would I like me? Sam II was an angry, sullen man; we saw (inferred) that Sam I started out that way, too and evolved.”
“Boring! Made no sense. Where is HAL when you need him.”
“Probably too philosophical, smart and intelligent for most people. It hurts to think… but stands tall with 2001, SILENT RUNNING, MAROONED and OUTLAND.”
I would recommend this movie to the younger set. A moon for the misbegotten or a better title: TO TELL THE TRUTH.”
“Very creative, but I felt as trapped as Sam and wished for a clone so that I could get out of the theater! What price cheap energy?”
“I liked the message. Scary and far thinking.”
“A little bit above and beyond, but I liked it. REVENGE OF THE CLONES! Ain't corporate America a bitch! Sam Rockwell rocks!”
“Very long and repetitious. Got the idea in 30 minutes.”
“I was very impressed. Raises a lot of philosophical issues. Corporate corruption was present in the past, now and will be in the future.”
“Not something I would have chosen. Sci-Fi not a favorite, but interesting never the less.”
“I enjoyed the Q & A with the director. Thanks!”
“Buck Rogers would have solved the problem sooner.”
“If it had a message I missed it! And seriously don't want to find it!”
“I am a sci-fi fan so this was right up my alley. I found it suspenseful right to the end, never quite figuring out exactly what was happening.”
“Maybe one of the worst films I've seen at MEA. The story, plot, screenplay is so full of holes.”
"Exactly what you want from science fiction - an out-of-this-world story, suspenseful plot, and an ultimate pay-off message that comments on our times - corporate greed and coruption. An it did all this with only minimal characters and special effects, no chase scenes, explosions or creepy creatures. Bravo! Duncan Jones was also a terrific guest, smart and clearly enthusiastic about his project. Bring him back."
“The reason for the movie? I could not understand why such a movie was created.”
“Provocative. Not so much science fiction as science realism.”
“Unsatisfying.”
“I loved it. This film will raise the ethics discussion about cloning. As a sci-fi fan I liked this a lot. For me there were so many intersections, 'BLADE RUNNER' of course, Isaac Asimov's 3 LAWS OF ROBOTICS, 2001. Does Gerdy become self-aware? Is that why Gerdy gives the code to Sam? Did the original Sam get back? We see Eve call her father or is that a different father? Did the original Sam die? Was the original Sam there 3 years plus? Repetitive labor is boring. Humans are always looking for someone else to do it. Did Sam sign a non-disclosure agreement or did they clone him without his knowledge?”
“Hard to judge for me who isn't drawn to sci-fi films. I did like ALIEN TRESPASS so I guess I'd like more humor to recommend it to others and enjoy it myself.”
“Exciting concept well crafted with stark realism rather than gadgets and glitz.”
“I wanted to see the original Sam on the TV with his 15 year old daughter and wondered why you didn't show that.”
“Echoes of 2001 and BLADE RUNNER.”
“Tedious.”
“An interesting film. A different take on the science fiction genre, corporate greed and cloning. I liked the musical background. Kevin Spacey's voice as Gerdy was mesmerizing. If you are going to clone someone, Sam Rockwell is an excellent choice. Terrific performance by him.”
“An excellent film and interesting as well.”
