“I did laugh out loud at several parts. However a comedy about terrorists – I don’t know- they’re very much with us and scary.”
“Comedy? By definition doesn’t that mean that there is at least one laugh?”
“Why?”
“Frightening! Well done – the comedy makes one pay attention to the message – too much vulgarity.”
“Not very funny."
“Couldn’t understand a lot of what they said.”
“An insult to Islam and those who practice their religion. Also an insult to the British.”
“Captions, please. This was funny, but would have been so much better if I had understood what they were saying."
“Disturbing film. Not for a NY audience.”
“Revolutionary and unique.”
“Some subjects can’t be trivialized and terrorism is one of them. This movie reminds me of ‘LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL’ which I feel trivialized the Holocaust. here were humorous moments, but all in all it just doesn’t work.”
“Terrible movie – terrible subject. If this is what we’re fighting, we are surely doomed.”
“I hated this movie!”
“Kind of silly, slapstick fun. Like ‘TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN’ meets ‘HURT LOCKER’.”
“A very thought provoking film. One can laugh at the incompetency of the participants - their thought process, but what remains is the scary reality of what they did and what - with a little luck - they could have done. Would that all terrorists should be so stupid.”
“I almost felt guilty laughing at this farce. It seems that ineptitude is scarier than ‘eptitude’ since there are many more unsuccessful attempts of which we know than successful ones. And why did they have to kill a sheep? And Jewish sparkplugs!? This is a movie I have to sit with for a while, especially with the insane controversy over building a mosque down by ground zero. Are all Muslims terrorists in training? If so, are all Christians abortionists killers and homophobes?”
“Even if the jerks (to use director’s term) weren’t Muslim wannabe terrorists, this film was grating and dumb. Way too one note. Just not funny and terrorists - even stupid frat boy ones - are not entertainment sources for me.”
“A most intriguing film.”
“Certain to stir controversy. Some things were funny, but overall I found it upsetting in terms of the reality. I enjoyed it but the reality, of course, is scary.”
“Very funny."
“Theatre of the absurd for a society of the absurd. It’s a mad, mad, mad world. The director achieved his goal!”
“Extremely disturbing film. What hit me the hardest was when the innocent brother was told he would be drilled and probed if he did not give up information. This may be the first movie that disturbed me and made me laugh equally much. Really great acting. Very creative approach to relaying some really serious political and social messages.”
“Sometimes funny, but disturbing!”
“A remarkable film in terms of what it attempted to do – make fun of suicide bombers, when that is still going on everyday and innocents are being killed. Still, having said that, much of this film is very funny, and it questions our manners. Is it disrespectful of the dead to laugh at their murderers, be they inept or mastermindedly diabolical? It took twenty years for us to produce a show called Hogan’s Heroes. And a Japanese Hogan’s Heroes has yet to be made.”
“Waste of film. Not all terrorists are all idiots. They are shrewd murderers.”
“By far the dumbest movie I have ever seen in this class of 30 years.”
“I am so not the target marker for this film: I hate the Three Stooges! I loathed Borat. These clowns did nothing for me at all. We have met the enemy and they are morons. As are we.”
“Horrible! Terrorism is not subject of comedy!”
“Somewhere between ‘THE LAVENDOER HILL MOB’ and I don’t know what Cockney Jihadists cultural discovery. How to curse in Arabic I would have been enjoyed (if that’s the word) the film more if could have understood their Cockney accents.”
