“Great little film, and an insightful commentary on yuppie New Yorkers, Wall Street and SOHO, absurd financial salaries and underfunded arts, and – as always – boy meets girl. Much thanks for Mr. DePietro for joining us, clearly he is literate and cares for film. A nice debut!”

“Nice direction, good acting, and a story waiting to be told, but rule #1 of screenwriting – make your main characters likeable. Lenny starts out like a loveable quirky curmudgeon, but quickly becomes creepy. He embezzles a sweet old couple, bullies Reuben, and virtually stalks (the wonderfully elegant) Mimi. Once that happens the film has neither the depth of story or other characters to fill the void.”

“A remarkable adventure, incredible cinematography and a superb mix/contrast of politics and sport set just before the infamous 1936 Olympics in Nazi Germany. I shivered with these men as they foolishly climbed the mountain, but also at the thought that these boys would be the same ones sent to fight World War 2 for almost the same reasons – to prove their perceived superiority.”

A terrific story of love, politics, fame and fortune all mixed in with idealism, practicality, Russian paparazzi and just enough history to give it relevance. Throw in two-world class performances by Plummer and Helen Mirren and it’s stand by for award’s time.”

“Washed-up but unwashed country-western singer sagas are a dime a dozen, but CRAZY HEART may be the best of the bunch, as even Robert Duvall recognizes by producing and acting in the film. Nicely understated directing by Scott Cooper, a great adaptation of the novel, gorgeous Southwest scenery and two make-it-real performances by Maggie Gyllenhaal and Jeff Bridges will make this a hit in cities where you can barely find a country western radio station.”

“A brilliant film as creative as it is unrelenting. The subject matter – examining a culture of disturbed and abused children who 20 years later will be the ones who give rise to Nazi Germany - is a formidable task. No color, no music, a joyless life that insures these will be the children of the damned.”

“Perhaps not as satisfying as WAITRESS - it is smaller in scope and fits the format more of a short story than the fully realized scope of a movie - but this is clear evidence of what a tragic loss to the film community was the death of Adrienne Shelly.”

“So what’s not to love about an Almodovar/Cruz film?  He brings together great human emotion, wonderful melodrama, and the best art direction in the business, a marvelous soundtrack and a gorgeous cast.  I couldn’t be happier.”

"Remarkable in many ways, first of all the degree-of-difficulty factor. Michael Moore tackling CAPITALISM was like a walk in the park compared to trying to figure out the Almighty, or even if there is an Almighty. The film seems short on substance, but – as the panel discussion proved – real substance about God is an empty exercise – there’s no empirical data, simply faith. And just like Moore the real victory will come from people discussing the topic rather than the 90-minute topic starter, as earnest and well done as it was. And it was very beautiful to look at.”

“This film gives a voice to the voiceless and should be viewed by every adult in the United States.  It is a shame of America that we are failing to protect our children.  Precious was fortunate that she met someone who cared and helped.  How many never have that opportunity?  Brutal, gut wrenching and disturbing.”
