"Happiness is both relative and universal.”
“Great final line – Robbie gets ‘a wean, a girl and a motor.’"
“They got us to root for the criminals!”
“So enjoyed the happy ending. Great to see transformation. Change is possible. Really brought to light how difficult it is to get out of the snake pit of life.”
“Very satisfying fairy tale with down to earth characters, a believable dilemma and a delightful solution. Excellent piece of work with just the right amount of magic. However, I hated the subtitles, which distracted from the beautiful cinematography and didn’t contribute enough significant content tom justify the blight.”
“Ken Loach never disappoints; always gives us a working class point of view for a layered story. The SIDEWAYS scene drinking the spittoon made me want to puke, especially the boy’s description of what he was drinking. Roger Allam and John Henshaw were great additions to the cast. I loved the crew with Robbie. You really feel the shift in Robbie’s character, especially after facing his accuser and seeing how he was before community service.’"
“Just went with the story and enjoyed the suspense of the film. Not a film I would have gone to. Good to have a movie like this one to expose me to this venue even with all the cursing.”
“Loved it! More like this please.”
“A foul story, but nothing exceptional. The acting was great and natural. Not a total feel-good ending in order to be able to start his new life, Robbie had to steal and lie.”
“Loved the opening platform scene.”
“Loved how they opened the film. Great court case scene. Loved it! Thanks!”
“A better life for our children is not just the American dream, but for all people. And we definitely need more Harrys in the world.”
“Well done slice. This is a Cinderella story for Scotish’s working class”
“Good story, just found it unfortunate that he had to commit a crime to get out of the criminal world.”
“Nice job getting the audience to like the 4 young criminals through the use of comedy and character.”
“When Robbie was getting beaten up in the beginning I was ready to walk out. I’m glad I didn’t. I thought this film was delightful and original.”
“Delightful! And the Emperor’s New Clothes contintues… you want to believe and don’t we all and so cheers and l’Chiam!”
“John, you wee c*@#! Thanks for such a terrific f’ing film. It took us on a tense, rollicking eventful ride and let us continue down the road in a VW bus. Who could have seen it coming? And that’s what a movie should be – surprising, just like life. The cast was excellent. As I watched I had a sense of reality then I had to tell myself that this is not a documentary. However, when John explained that these were untrained actors, it made complete sense. Bravo to the filmmaker and all the cast and crew.”
“A ‘coming to your senses’ and also an ‘acting your age’ saga. Just enough violence.”
“Very enjoyable. Hank definitely deserved the Angel’s Share.”
“I appreciate the portrayal of the downward spiral of the class, and the practically impossible opportunity to mend one’s ways and have the chance to change.”
“Excellent”
