“Well this certainly is a different school of filmmaking, is there an audience out there for it?
"Yes, there are very few films about brother-sister relationships, so if you're going to do that perhaps you might want to make some comment or offer some insights into said relationship? Give me something to walk away with."
"A real sleeper. It put me to sleep halfway through.”
“Seemed like a cheap student film, with filmmaker enamored of arty shots. Ended when he ran out of money?”
“Good guest makes the film a little better. Great choice in Carlos."
“Soooo slow…. No need to worry, no one will be duplicating this too soon. Some lovely photographs of Portland, felt like it should have stayed with a series of photos. I liked the scene between Carlos and Doug in the icehouse that felt like the most compelling scene in the film. The dialogue felt the most natural there. Another wonderful moment was with the seagull moving closer, great that you stayed with it. Like PULP FICTION we never see what’s in the briefcase. It was good not to show.”
“Too much space in scenes where there’s nothing happening made it move too slow. The idea is good but it was so slow I kept losing interest in the empty spaces.”
“This film was a real mixed bag for me. I loved the look and sound, but the pace drove me nuts. Is this Portland? Do people really just leave their offices to look at whales on a rainy day? Yikes!”
“Has the paint dried yet? Very good Q & A.”
“Dorks going nowhere.”
“The ice factory is badly in need of productivity improvements, a metaphor for what the movie needs in its screenplay and acting. The cinematography and the score were the best part. By the way Pittsburgh has a famous movie location. The bank lobby scenes in the original THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR.”
“Loved the musical score.”
“The waterfall scene was gorgeous.”
"Terrific Q&A with Aaron Katz, thank you! He's smart and focused and friendly. I wish the film were the same - decidedly unfriendly. Watching men dump ice. Twice? Really?"
“Enjoyed the acting, but this film was too slow moving from the beginning. Soon after it got interesting, it ended. Super visual effects of the falls with the bridge in the forefront.”
“One of the worst films I’ve ever seen.”
“They didn’t have to worry – no one is going to duplicate this movie.”
“Amateur hour.”
“What a drag!”
“Worst of the year! Pointless! Slow! I should have walked out or better yet, stayed home!”
“Seems like all these characters need to get a life! Rachel introduced some spark. Very slow, very jumpy, very unbelievable. “
“Why? If you are going to be painfully slow in both the unlayering of the plot/story and the edits, you better deliver something to the audience by the end other than aborted suspense. This film felt like an ice factory."
"Boring!"
