“I enjoyed this, but as usual don’t like what I call the hooray for Hollywood moments. The age of the older daughter, the Albany reporter more effective than the FBI. Thank heaven the soundtrack wasn’t all period music!”

“Excellent story and acting. Good to see the realism of aging.”
“Interesting expose of a movement yet provocative period of US recent history.”
“Susan Sarandon reminds us of the violence we have perpetrated in the name of freedom and capitalism. She reminds us of the draft, something which hasn’t been in force for forty years. And that young people cannot conceive of draft which man force action and thought on the part of our youth rather than indifference. Pivotal moment in the film - the FBI seems to inclined to be the bad agent here. Ironically Terrance Howard is the only black and white character in the film.”
“Great cast. Wonderfully acted. We need to think about how far we haven’t gone.”
“Redford can’t stop running since 3 DAYS OF THE CONDOR.”
(Spoiler alert!) “A big plus for this film is seeing so many old timers together including the totally unrecognizable Julie Christie a senior poster woman for cosmetic surgery. The story held my interest and the acting was good. I found the ending - Mimi turning herself in - totally unbelievable with the character.”
“Redford’s preachiness is almost mitgated by a taut chase/thriller suspense film. Almost.”
“What an ensemble!”
“Remarkable cast, pertinent, timely political tale with a story that moves along well. What’s not to like?”
“Redford on the run, and yes, he runs funny, but not bad for his age. At age 76 I’d be happy just to be standing upright.”
“Terrence Howard and the FBI come off as emotionless, duty-driven drones. Sort of like the Chicago police in the 1968 Democratic convention. Things haven’t changed. And where are the critics of today? The Wall Streeters?. Please…”
“At what point will Robert Redford stop making films, as an actor and/or a director? He had a career, a wonderful one, and now he needs to rest on his laurels. He looks old, moves slow and talks too much. Watching him on the run was painful. I think maybe even more for him than the audience; but we all suffer through the film. While the premise of the movie was wonderful, the execution was a mess. The dialogue was so overloaded with boringly delivered exposition. I would have welcomed a voice over narration, even a mockumentary. It is simply a well-meaning movie that is not well made; and no attempt at a meaningful discussion by the audience is going to make this a good movie.
“The story of aging revolutionaries and counter-culture freaks who were at lest motivated to act rather than drop out has yet to be told with the intensity it deserves. Those were terribly dark times of life-altering decisions, of war and race riots and government and duty. Redford ignores the whole race issue (many of the Weather Underground were black) and many WU members were as much terrorists as idealists.”
"Loved it."
“What a cast! Susan Sarandon commands the screen, so much so that in her short screen time she is sorely missed for the rest of the movie.”
“Redford is perhaps our only overtly political filmmaker, and he succeeds well here with a fine story, incredible cast and a fast-moving film. Will it change anyone’s attitude? Hmmm.”
“Interesting story on a part of history from the 1960’s. Wish they had told the story true.”
“There is no way that Redford’s oldest daughter could have been that young. Do the math. He was part of a movement that was from the late 60’s.”
“A formidable cast, with each celebrity highlighting what many of the radicals from the 60’s have become, teachers, lawyers, millworkers and even drug runners and stock traders. Muddled time-line however.”
(Spoiler alert!) “A well-meaning look at those turbulent times, and I liked the fact that Shia LaBeouf developed a conscience rather than becoming a celebrity. I wonder how many of our youth today would make the same decision.”
"Well done!"
“Robert Redford is too old (and it shows) for his role. Too old for Weather Underground.”
“A typical chase movie with high powered names. OK. Good TV film.”
