“Wonderful film with a splendid soundtrack. Excellent performances and a moving telling of the story of 187 who changed the world. Rock on!”
“What a wonderful British NORMA RAE moment! Sally Hawkins, of whom I was not a fan, was absolutely perfect and perfectly wonderful as Rita…quietly getting what was absolutely essential. Sometimes a whisper is a roar when everyone else is screaming. So, England has had an equal pay law since 1970. Here in the USA we’re still making 83 cents to everyman’s dollar!
"I loved this movie! Every perfect detail, including the irony of the workers coming by bicycle when they were making cars they couldn’t afford.”
“As a true union person, I loved it. Well cast.”
“A feel-good movie about the struggle for equal pay for women. The underdog wins. Too bad that women are still struggling for equality here and everywhere.”
“This film should be seen by all men! A great film.”
“Wonderful! Makes me proud to be a woman and union activist.”
"The movie had great history, great screenplay, great casting, great direction and great acting. But how much farther we need to go 50 years later to complete the cause for equal pay. Go figure.”
“Surprisingly, a non-violent revolution.”
“British version of NORMA RAE! Music used in the film was good.”
“Great guest! Worth the wait, thanks.”
“I remember those days women got much less than man here in the USA.”
“Hard to understand some of the moments. Maybe it needed subtitles?”
“British NORMA RAE? Loved the soundtrack, so authentically England ‘68. Bob Hoskins and Miranda Richardson always jump off the screen. Sally Hawkins little voice works so well here. Too bad Richard Schiff plays the heavy!”
“There’s no film I’ve seen in a long, long time I would more wholeheartedly tell everyone to go see – men, women, young people or those who lived through the turbulent 60’s.”
“Great ensemble acting. Great acting indeed. An uplifting story.”
“This movie was amazing! Women everywhere should see this movie. Young ladies these days don’t understand the struggle women in the past have gone through to make workforce better. This movie successfully shows their struggle.”
“The late 1960’s and early 70’s was the best time to be a woman.”
“Had a difficult time with the accents.”
“Great to see some of the actual ladies of Dagenham over the credits. They are pioneers who lived in obscurity much too long. History books, take note.”
“Could have used English subtitles!”
“Just enough of each scene and each speech, but could have used some subtitles. A beautiful tribute to some titans of history.”
“Could’ve used subtitles during certain sections…I could not understand the accent.”
“At first it seemed like shades of ERIN BROCHOVICH and NORMA RAE, but upon development of plot and characters a part of history and human rights emerged. One flaw however the red dress could not fit Rita without multi alterations. Still had trouble with some of the regional English.”
“Best movie of the year. Hollywood can’t make this stuff up.”
“Hawkins speech in front of the labor union representatives is Oscar worthy alone.”
