“How accurate was the film? I enjoyed the film.”
“The production value was good, but truth was false. The liberties this film took with history was historytainment made me lose all respect for it. We need good docu-dramas, but this was false history and on top of it, it made a guy who was in many ways a creep into a hero and a romantic patriot? No way Jose can I recommend it.” Jeanne K
"An interesting film about a period of time of which I don’t know all of the facts. The fact that the love story was total fiction reduced my opinion of the film. Too simplistic a film. The trailer makes it look like its about McArthur, a fraudulent tease in retrospect.”
“They need to re-edit this film by showing the last 15 minutes and saving us from the rest of it. Mathew Fox is still LOST in search of his charisma. He is not able to carry a film; more of Tommy Lee Jones would have been welcomed.”
“Romantic and sentimental version of history. Yet the movie was engrossing. The devastated landscape a testimony to the horrors of war, but as a history lesson it failed.”
“Interesting look at that moment in history, but I wish the story and script had been as lovingly true as the production details.”
“Good subject, bad film making. The flashback romance was badly done and interfered with far more interesting aspects of the film.”
“I liked the portrayal of Japanese culture, and the love story as well was powerful. War and it devastation never seems to be powerful enough for leaders to resist.”
