“Really terrific and that’s no lie. Joshua And Jess were terrific.”
“Dull and pointless movie.”
“This was really bad. Saved only by that adorable baby. The only one who was sane.”
“Maybe you needed to be stoned…”
"Are the youth of today irresponsible or victims of a materialistic society driven by the quest for $1400 strollers? Had the film more substance or addressed these issues it flirted with this might have been a fascinating film."
“The big lie in this film about running away as the solution to facing the responsibility of adulthood is a poor substitute to a well thought out screenplay.”
"Why wasn’t the lie confessed and the money returned to the people from whom it was taken?”
“An interesting premise, but 50 years too late – 60’s California. This was out of a time warp. This should have been left as a short story. The main actors were good, but too slow and drown out. This was like an amateurish film school project. This was not funny.”
“The longest 80 minutes ever! I found the main characters repulsively immature and ridiculously ignorant of their responsibilities. The narcissism just killed me.”
“Wrong era! Belongs in the 70’s.”
“T. C. Boyle is a darker and funnier and more clever. Strangely the main character sounds like T.C. Boyle and has a manner that is very much like Boyle. The film moves a bit too slowly and lacks the pacing that T.C. Boyle’s short stories do. Some lovely moments, the tight close-ups at dinner, the silence of Josh’s wife when she discovers the lie.”
“In the end they didn’t admit the lie to the co-workers which I felt was not responsible, so they are continuing their lives with a lie. I found that disturbing.”
“Painful to watch how the so-called liberal values of our society have damaged our youth. The two of them exemplify what’s wrong with the OWS movement, for example. Also I found it boring.”
"A nice "indy" film built on a terrific short story, but largely unpleasant. Even black comedies have more likable characters. Yes he was a "f---ing" great father, but otherwise detestable."
“Lots of continuity problems among other things!”
“Despicable character. I tried to fall asleep, but I couldn’t.”
