“What a wonderful story. A wonderful movie with wonderful acting. A sense of dread runs throughout this tale. Gosling perpetuates true terror. Best picture so far! Loved it!”
“Kept my interest throughout. Music was intrusive – too blaring.”
“This gives getting away with murder a new dimension. Sad, sorry events. Could David have been helped? Ignoring problems does not make them go away."
“I don’t like this type of movie at all and this one particularly creeped me out, but I can’t deny that it is an excellent movie in all aspects.”
“A superb suspense film and part of the suspense will be wondering whether lawsuits will start flying! Excellent performances and magnificent make-up. I can’t remember seeing a film with such effective aging. The editing was great, and the movie did not talk down to the audience in anyway. That said – the soundtrack’s engineering was a real liability. Terrific music, but it was pounding at jackhammer levels and drove me out of the film instead of keeping me in the moment.”
“Fabulous film.”
“Ryan Gosling doesn’t have anything on Anthony Perkins – although it seems as though he CAN kill a fly!”
“It’s a wow!”
“Very well done film.”
“Very good, but so dark.”
“Great acting.”
“Creepy PSYCHOrealtor. We need Sherlock Holmes for the 21st century to solve this one!"
“I believe the quote is all good things must come to an end – which raises the question was there any good to begin with…this movie seems to deny that. Wow!”
“This movie was extremely disturbing. Although the movie was based on actual events, the direction took an unsuspected turn."
“A little slow, but a good film with wonderful acting. Great use of music."
“An ironic title for a dark, bleak story. Unsettling."
“No animals were harmed…only people!”
“Fabulous acting and cinematography in one of the most confusing films based on a true story. So many questions. What was in the father’s car trunk? What happened to the friend’s manuscript? What was in the garbage bags? How much conjecture, how much truth! Can’t wait for the reviews to fill in some of the blanks! If I didn’t know this was based on fact, I would have enjoyed it more."
“Well done!"
“Fascinating and freaky. Ryan Gosling makes a great girl – actually he’s great throughout.”
“Suspenseful and well executed for the most part. I was as irritated as intrigued watching this film.”
“Film should have been called NO GOOD THINGS but it was very engaging. The fact that it was a true story is fascinating in itself – the truth is stranger than fiction. If it were a book, we’d say it’s a great beach read.”
“Where is Dexter Morgan when you need him?”
“I can’t tell you how much I disliked this film. Distasteful, disjointed, hard to follow and ultimately not worth watching. The story is worth telling, but not in this pseudo arty way. Tell it straight. It would be more compelling and understandable that way. The acting was poor as well. Not convincing at all. Finally home movies are usually not as jerky as shown here.”
“I cannot understand the reason for this film. It is so inconclusive because the facts were obviously not known. Too many unanswered questions. Despite the aforementioned, the acting was very commendable. The mood and direction were also well handled. The facts as presented by John sound better than the movie we saw.”
“Good acting! What a script! Nightmare land. Hard to recommend. It doesn’t talk it barks and growls!”
“Very interesting, the slow pace was perfect for this mystery – great tension. I wonder if there will be some lawsuits after this comes out – watch for fallout. The acting was brilliant. Very well done! Great direction.”
