“Wonderful!”
“A cautionary tale also fun and poignant. Giammatti is perfect for this part and Kyle was terrific as a ‘coming of age’ kid.”
“My brother was a high school wrestler so I went to a lot of matches. He would wear a rubber suit for about a week before his matches to drop weight to not be thrown into the unlimited heavyweight class! I love this movie. The acting was superb and a super cast with enough reality to satisfy. Good people do bad things; it doesn’t make them bad people. The co-writers did a beautiful job drawing on their buddy background to create a script that I didn’t have to wrestle to like.”
“Love this film!”
“Lots of superb little details – Kyle calls everyone by their first names, and especially the relationship of the coaches. In a film set in Jersey a little Springstein ‘Glory Days’ is appropriate!”
“Casting was brilliant! All characters developed and revealed themselves in sequence consistent with their part in the story.”
“Never liked wrestling, but loved this film.”
“After hearing our guest I understand why this movie was so realistic and so good. Wonderful film.”
“I would have liked more/deeper character development, a little more of their personal history. Who are they? What were they thinking as they moved through the different emotional encounters.” Joyce Epstein
“Made an uninteresting sport (wrestling) into a charming movie.”
“A little too cutesy for a serious topic.”
“First image of the film – the fallen angel – becomes Kyle, the white haired innocent looking for redemption. He even has the angel’s wings tattooed on his back!”
“Sweet movie, but predictable. The issue of dementia is not handled enough. Leo needs 24/7 care. Not seriously depicted n the film.”
“Loved this movie from the first shot. Dialogue realistic. Great acting. Wonderful guest!”
“Hated all wrestling shows. Loved this film!”
“Very touching – superb!”
“WIN WIN is a winner! Great subject on so many levels; values, identity, attachment loss, forgiveness/redemption confidence building, reliving the past, mental/moral wrestling. It was so well cast. Alex Shaffer (flashback Sean Penn in his early years). Paul Giamatti always delivers a real performance. Amy Ryan well played/portrayed as well as the actress who played Kyle’s mother. Bobby Cannavale really well played too. Left me with a wonderful feeling in a great way - not saccharine - at all. Very heartwarming.”
“Loved it. Brilliant efficient screenplay: every line essential to the dialogue. So authentic and true to the characters. And what compelling characters and performances by every actor. Just a wonderful human film. WIN WIN was truly winning. (Tell that to Charlie Sheen – this film is the real deal). Thanks!” Jeanne Krier
“Great cast. Movie deals well with real issues."
“A delight!”
“An interesting story idea, but too Hollywood. “
“Understated movie about some normal people in normal circumstances.”
“Really good writing. Bobby Cannavale is so gorgeous and he can act. The whole cast was fine. Paul and Amy exceptional.”
"At last a film that combines the aesthetics of the independent filmmaker with a story and characters that appeal to the mainstream audience. A superb moral tale identifiable by many people in these tough economic times."
“Good movie, but why wasn’t the title ‘HOLY SHIT’?”
