“What a relief to see such a pleasant film. Thank you.”
"Sweet film."
“The problem with this film is that the script is too contrived. The best was the various people who owned the parrot. The librarian was not believable as a character.”
“As a librarian it was delightful and comforting both to see a portrayal that defies the stereotype. Actually we are a pretty feisty bunch. The film is a hoot, fun, quirky and poignant. I enjoyed it immensely, even the Hollywood ending.”
“The sound was off. Too loud at the beginning during the opening narration by the waitress. The script was fantastic.”
“Thoroughly enjoyable film. Loved the two main characters.”
“I did like the film a lot. One problem at the beginning because Jackson was good, perhaps too good-looking to have the problem he had. The featured players were excellent, Judith Ivy in particular,”
“Loved the parallels of Lyman finding his past in the past of the bird in terms of faith, family, etc. Add that superb structure with two beautiful people and it makes for a very delightful road picture. Great stuff!”
“Charming romantic comedy. One problem that the actor playing Lyman was too good-looking.”
“A lovely beginning for the series.”
“Everybody must have a chance to see A BIRD IN THE AIR. Open it everywhere.”
“Terrific screenplay. Should get nominations.”
“Loved all the references to MOBY DICK including the name of the film company. Why did you choose to do a voice-over narration intermittently? “Excellent supporting cast, all the cameos, Judith Ivy, Louis Zorich, Buck Henry. The parrot and the dog were so spectacularly engaging. Loved the way each character’s environment is so specific, especially Phyllis Somervilles. For me Fiona weakened the film. I found her delivery too much like Drop Dead Diva, unlike Lyman’s character.”
“I loved it! I look forward to your next project.”
“Charming film! I loved that parrot! I thought the actors were terrific, not overplayed, great chemistry. Some of the supporting cast was a nice surprise like Judith Ivy and Buck Henry. The film makes me want to read the book. Two lost souls on the highway of love finally found each other. The first feel good movie of the new season that works on many levels.”
“Wonderful! Sweet! A true lost-and-found gem of a story.”
“An extremely enjoyable take on what could have been a sappy romantic comedy. The cast was great, but the dog and parrot stole the show. A great start to the season!”
“I felt as ambushed by this film as Lyman was by Fiona. My expectations were low (the plot description seemed both banal and cloyingly cute), but the performers and story snuck up on me and won me over completely. Well done!”
“A great start for 2011-2012!”
“Very charming.”
“A refreshing upbeat optimistic film with marvelous characters both human and animal.”
“Loved it. Great casting and beautiful to watch.”
“It was not just for the birds.”
“Wonderful film. Unique, quirky and charming. Said a lot about humanity.”
