“What a terrific film. An insider’s job on Branagh’s part, giving him an opportunity to work with his friends, real theatrical royalty and flesh out the bones of Shakespeare’s known biography. It becomes a wonderful vehicle for Branagh and Elton’s love and esteem of the profession of theater and the challenge of reentry to family life in his town, after a glorious life in London. And what a scene: the poetry slam with McClellan and Branagh!”
