“An emotional film that made me feel I was on the journey. Exhausting and painful for the viewer with no resolution at the end. It certainly makes me appreciative of what people will do to see a better life.”
“Needed to have better editing and a tighter and better screenplay.”
“Got the difficulty of life in 15 minutes. Didn’t need 103 minutes. How long would we survive?”
“What a bore! The only good acting was the Indian glad they didn’t kill him or maybe if they had, the movie would have ended sooner.”
“Squeaking, creaking slow and yet the wheels kept turning. Hurrah for the Indian.”
“Ouch! Film was meek.”
“Very disappointing. It went on forever and it went nowhere.”
“Why? In light of the post screening discussion, this film may have had lofty ambitions, but it completely failed at achieving them.”
“A haunting and philosophical film. Asks the question what is life?”
“How to make a long story longer.”
“Terrible movie. The film seemed as long and endless as their journey to nowhere.”
“An interesting follow- up to last week’s film regarding moral choices. Very atmospheric – gives you a real feeling of what that journey was like. The question of who to trust – the Indian is looking at the seeds of his nations’ destruction. The ending was a surprise, but completely appropriate. This is not for most people. Also the piece you read at the end about the political meaning was not something I got out of the film. Questions: Why didn’t they dig for water? Why didn’t they save more resources from the broken wagon?”
“The first 45 minutes was like watching paint dry. In comes the Indian and we add a bit of tension and possibility. The end left open for the sequel? Needed subtitles! The Indian’s singing over the fallen man was a highlight, similar to all religious prayers. Who hired Meek? Michelle Williams character was interesting, vocal and modern.”
“The ending left me lost.”
“A bit too dull. Nothing happens in most of the movie.”
“It’s the journey and the journey is harsh. Unfortunately, my personally journey watching this was as lost as they were.”
“Spiritual yes, necessary no!”
“Amusing that they always traveled from right to left, to correspond to our concept of east to west from maps.”
“Disappointing and ill effective.”
