“Magnificent! I loved it!” Jeanne K
“Good guest!”
“This is a true love story! I got it. Wonderful rhythm to the film. Thanks!”
“Emotional and delightful. Especially liked the relationship of wives to Stan and Ollie and to each other.”
“And the Oscar goes to John C. Reilly and Steve Coogan because there is no way to praise one above the other. These are two excellent performances. The screenplay is good, however I would have loved to have learned about Laurel and Hardy’s early days. Howe did they meet? How did they develop their personas? How did they become the legends?”
“Sweet charming movie.”
“Made me want to go back and watch Laurel and Hardy films and the importance of remembering them. Also a beautiful reflection on the power of theater and performance in that Ollie decides to live rather than be in a sick bed.”
“Thank you to Jeff Pope for writing this film. Thanks to Jeff Pope for Producing this film. Thank you to Jeff Pope for being our guest. I will never forget it, brought back such memories of Laurel and Hardy, but also gave me new insights into their lives and relationships. My favorite film of this year!
“Is there an audience of younger people who would want to see this film?”
“Really lovely film. You get a sense of the deep love these two men felt for each other. Extraordinary fat suit for Reilly. I totally believed Reilly gained the weight. Loved the casting of Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly.”
“I didn’t feel their love. I didn’t get any feeling what their divergent personalities merged to make them so successful.”
“A beautifully written and acted film. John C. Reilly and Steve Coogan both deserve Oscar Awards. Bring back Stan and Ollie from the dead.”
“See - you can tell an amazing story without sensationalism or Sturm und Drang. Funny, poignant, perceptive.”
“Could have used more back story. How they became a team? No mention of children.”
“Loved the film! Forgot how innocent and funny they were and how lucky I was to grow up with their humor.”
“Thoroughly enjoyed the film. Very well done.”
“Charming and insightful! Everyone would enjoy this film.”
“So nice to see a comedy even if it is laced with pathos in their relationships. Loved this film! Coogan and and Reilly are amazing. Yes, their friendship was very special. The scene Showing Stan telling Ollie off was very subtle and just enough to get it. No loud arguments needed! Wonderful script. The two actresses playing their wives were brilliant too. Does the Savoy still exists as shown? Wonderful cinematography.”
“Like any good biopic it made me want to go back and learn more about the duo who were so influential to so many other comedians, and writers, etc.”
